Projects Fund
Friends of Fiji maintains strong relationships with Peace Corps Fiji and service organizations who provide assistance to all communities in Fiji. We have funded volunteer projects, both directly and through the Peace Corps Partnership Program. We have also collaborated with local service organizations to accomplish community improvement projects, including disaster recovery efforts. We entertain small projects in communities that may not get the attention of, or know how to access larger organizations. Friends of Fiji is a vehicle the enables RPCVs to continue contributing to Peace Corps’ impact in Fiji.

Disaster Relief Fund
Friends of Fiji is not in a position to provide immediate disaster relief, however, we can support longer term recovery efforts. For example, after Cylone Winston struck, PCVs, RPCVs, and partner organizations in Fiji reached out to FoF to help fund housing repairs, rebuilding a school dining hall, replacement of a bus shelter, replanting crops, and other small projects. A portion of these funds may also be forwarded to disaster relief organizations in Fiji who provide more immediate response.
General Fund
This fund covers FoF’s operating expenses. Costs include website maintenance, printing, postage, renewal fees associated with the non-profit organization, and NPCA affiliation. FoF does not pay any compensation or personal expenses to board members.
Dan Cantor Memorial Fund
Dan Cantor was Peace Corps Fiji’s Country Director from May 1971 through January 1976. This fund was established in his honor to “provide support to current PCVs and staff in Fiji that may not be available from Peace Corps itself”.
The purpose of this fund was left broad intentionally, leaving room to provide some funding for events and activities the Peace Corps’ budget policy might not permit, e.g. Friday afternoon grog session, or drinks at swearing in, holiday, & COS functions. The fund has been used for such purposes on many occasions with great appreciation from the PCVs who have partaken.
